Searching for Registrations
You can search by either:
- PIN - You can find the PIN number on the registration renewal notice.
- License plate AND registrant's birth date - (If there are two registrants on the renewal notice, you can use either birth date).
Do not enter all three fields, or any other combination of the data.
If you can't find your registration, and you have double checked that you entered everything correctly, it may not currently be renewable through RenewExpress and you should try the DHSMV's website.
After you have finished adding renewals to your cart click Continue to checkout and pay.
1 or 2 Year Renewals
Some vehicles can be renewed for either one or two years. You can change the number of years to renew using the Years drop-down list.
Registered in a Different County?
This site can only be used for vehicles registered in this county. If your vehicle is registered in a different Florida county, please click here to find that county's site.
How to Change Your Address
To view or update your mailing address, enter your PIN or license plate and date of birth to search for your vehicle, then click "View/Update Mailing Address."
The Details On My Renewal Are Incorrect
If you need to make any changes to the information on your renewal you have to contact the DHSMV. Please note, however, that the information we show on the website is from data that the DHSMV initially sends us three months before the expiration date. The data for each renewal will only be updated twice more, with information from the subsequent two monthly files we receive, so any recent changes may not be reflected on the site.
I've Already Renewed but the Website Still Shows My Renewal as Due
The information we show on the website is from data that the DHSMV initially sends us three months before the expiration date. The data for each renewal will only be updated twice more, with information from the subsequent two monthly files we receive, so any recent changes may not be reflected on the site. If you completed and paid for your renewal by some other method and already received it, you do not need to do anything else. If you attempt to renew it again, it will be rejected by the DHSMV the next business day, you will receive an email notification, and your card will be refunded.
Why Can't I Renew Online?
The DHSMV sends the data that we use on the website and the County uses to send your renewal notice. In some cases the DHSMV may have marked your registrations as not renewable online. There are several reasons that they mark it as not renewable online but one of the most common is when proof of insurance is required. If your registration is not renewable online you will have to go to the Indian River Tax Collector's office to complete your renewal. If you need to find out more about why you cannot complete your renewal online you must contact the DHSMV. We do not have any more information than what is displayed on the website when you search for your renewal.
You can pay online using credit or debit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express) or e-checks.
The Bank Card User Fee is $3.50 for each renewal paid by credit or debit card. These fees will be displayed before you check out, when you will have the option to continue or cancel the transaction. The Indian River County Tax Collector does not receive any part of the Bank Card User Fee.
Problems Checking Out?
You may not have filled out all of the required fields correctly, or there may be a problem with your browser. Scroll to the top of the page to look for an error message. If you do not see one you can try using a different browser or reloading the page.
Can I Cancel My Payment or Cancel the Renewal?
Your transaction CANNOT be cancelled after you have checked out. Please verify all of your information, including the vehicle(s) being renewed, before checking out.
When & How Will I Get My Renewal?
Registration renewals will be sent to the DHSMV for processing the next business day. All successful registration renewals will be sent by first-class mail within 7-10 days. If you do not receive your tag(s) within that timeframe, or you need a replacement, you must visit the Indian River Tax Collector's website for information on what to do.
Renewal Not Received or Address Was Incorrect
You should first check your email to make sure that you received an email from us confirming that your registration was successful or letting you know why it was rejected. If you didn't receive an email it is possible that you didn't do the renewal online properly and you should email firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm that your renewal was completed. Include the county your vehicle/vessel is registered in, the license plate or PIN, and the date you attempted to do the renewal.
All successful registration renewals will be sent by first-class mail within 7-10 days. If you do not receive your tag(s) within that timeframe, or you need a replacement, you can visit the Indian River Tax Collector's website for information on what to do. If you completed your online renewal but used the wrong address you can find information on how to apply for a replacement on the Indian River Tax Collector's website.
Rejected Renewal Requests
At the end of each day we batch up the renewals completed online that day (the next business day following a weekend) and send them to the DHMSV for processing. The DHSMV will either accept or reject the renewal request. You will get an email the following business day either confirming your renewal or letting you know why it was rejected. In some circumstances the DHSMV is unable to process the renewal (for example, if insurance is required but not found, or if the renewal has already been done). If the renewal is rejected we will automatically refund your card, but it may take a few days to show up on your statement.
